KIRSTEN

Sarah has worked with Kirsten for over twenty years, both in a group setting and through one to one sessions, painting together and making textiles.

The Engine Shed exhibition of artworks in May 2012 was the second solo exhibition by Kirsten, produced between 2010 and 2012 and forming part of an on-going collaboration. Kirsten has successfully promoted her artwork through local events since 2008.

Her work incorporates themes of nature, land, sea and space. Kirsten’s style is very personal and energetic and reflects her interest in animals, fabrics and textures and a pleasure in mark making.

In order to produce a diverse range of outcomes Sarah and Kirsten work on a variety of surfaces including canvas, paper and cotton fabric. They employ different paint effects with brush, diffuser drip and pour method then add detail with the use of oil pastels, paint pens and appliqué. Kirsten's more recent work has included new mono print images. All these techniques provide a new and exciting multi-layered approach to making artwork.
